Press release:

AWA – Night of Champions
Wednesday 9th December 2009
Parow Civic Centre @ 19:30

Championships are the life blood of Professional Wrestling. The quest for a title is what drives every fighter to the ring and the opportunity of a title fight inevitably brings out the best in them. On the 9th of December the African Wrestling Alliance will return to the Parow Civic Centre and for the first time ever every AWA title will be put on the line in a groundbreaking event that will showcase the best of South African Wrestling. In addition to the annual Royal Rumble title, the promoters of AWA wrestling have put together a phenomenal match card which will see Champions from each of the three weight divisions put it all on the line against deserving challengers, hungry for gold and devoted to the mission of becoming the next AWA Champion.

23 Man Coca-Cola Royal Rumble
The annual Royal Rumble event is always guaranteed to draw crowds from near and far. This year the AWA promoters have promised a 23 man Royal Rumble; the thrills, spills and star making quality of this match are legendry. Although the over the top rope rules generally favor larger competitors, it is the one match in professional wrestling that anyone can win. With that many men in one ring anything is possible…

Tow-bars Cape Lightweight Championship
Nick Fury vs. Revyv vs. El-Matador

The lightweight division is one of the most hotly contested weight groups in the AWA. Since its inception, the dastardly Nick Fury has held the title. His success is primarily due to his band of FUBAR Revolution thugs that accompany him everywhere and involve themselves in his matches at opportune moments swinging the outcomes in his favor. The high flying adrenaline junkie Revyv and the Latino heartthrob El-Matador have both come within seconds of grabbing the title only to be robbed by FUBAR Revolution’s underhanded tactics. Will either of these two crowd favorites overcome the Champ and have their hands raised as the Tow Bars Cape Lightweight Champion

AWA Cruiserweight Championship
Johnny Palazzio vs. Vinnie Vegas

Two of South Africa’s best go head to head in this hugely anticipated showdown. The Italian Stallion, Johnny Pallazio, is a two time Cruiserweight Champion and the longest running champion in AWA history. His formation of FUBAR Revolution has kept him in an almost untouchable position of late but he will need all of his infamous cunning to get the better of perhaps his greatest challenge yet, Vinnie Vegas. Vegas is the most complete wrestler in the AWA and he is sure to bring it all out for the fans as he finds himself within reach of his “birthright”, Cruiserweight gold.

All Africa Heavyweight Title
the Missing Link vs. Shaun Koen

South African wrestling is Shaun Koen; this living legend will again attempt to win back the All Africa Heavyweight Title from the brutal Missing Link. The Link’s title reign, under the direction of AWA Ceo Koos Rossouw, has been a savage and uncompromising affair. Shaun Koen will no longer let his honorable sport be defaced by the likes of Missing Link; he has vowed to end Link’s championship run and perhaps even his career in what promises to be the most brutal match in the history of AWA. These two behemoths will take their grudge into the hardcore realm of tables, ladders, chairs and chains that may indeed bring one of these men’s careers to a swift and bloody end.
