Who’s the best of the best at the AWA?

Posted by Africa Wrestling On February - 14 - 2011

THE ENERGETIC REVYV started off 2010 as the Towbars Cape Champion after defeating Nick Fury at the December 2009 House of Pain show. A champion well known for his highflying and death defying moves, Revyv defended and defeated all contenders for most of 2010. In the final House of Pain match for 2010 however, Revyv lost his coveted title to the Little Hillbilly in a blistering battle. Revyv’s in-ring innovations and charismatic persona has made him a fan-favourite, earning him the number one spot in the 2010 AWA popularity rankings.

AWA’s most notorious personality on the mat is undoubtedly the very wicked Johnny Palazzio. To fortify his number one spot in our hall of infamy, the Italian mischief maker played dress up on two occasions at one event, the first time as Santa Claus, although in a move that was totally out of character on that occasion it was to hand out sweets to the children in the crowd. Later on he unloaded his crazed alter ego William Wallace when entering the Royal Rumble. Madness ensued. Add to that his unfailing dedication to causing havoc and mayhem amongst our team of athletes and you, our fans, and it’s easy to see why Palazzio reigns as our Most Loved to be Hated Wrestler.
Second generation wrestler, “The Lion of Africa” Shaun Koen, has held AWA All Africa Heavyweight title since mid-2009 when he defeated the current champ, The Missing Link. The year 2010 however proved a tough one for Koen as he faced his biggest opponents to date. That’s three menacing giants in three consecutive House of Pain events. With over 20 years of experience, Koen’s popularity is unmatched in the AWA. He brings a wealth of wrestling knowledge and is the cornerstone of the AWA, managing to hold on to his championship throughout 2010, and is the current All Africa champion as the AWA heads into the new year of 2011.
