2ND OCTOBER 2012 | HOUSE OF PAIN WITH A CHARITABLE TWIST
The AWA (Africa Wrestling Alliance) is all about breaking boundaries, and sometimes more than that. At the next House of Pain event to grace the Parow Civic Centre on the 2nd October 2012, they’ll be doing things a bit differently – and for a good cause too. Now, many of you will know of their stalwart wrestler, Shaun Koen – he who has mentored many an AWA superstar. Therefore you’ll be well aware that he, also known as the Lion Of Africa, has only ever been seen with a golden mop of curls on his head – his signature mane. Well, the AWA have gotten the big man to agree to something rather silly. In a bid to raise R10 000 for the ‘Reach For A Dream’ charity organisation, he has offered to cut his hair – but short! That’s Shaun, completely shorn, a sight we don’t think you’ll want to miss so please help us make this prestigious event a reality with your donation towards that R10 000 threshold.
Meanwhile for the wrestle fans, the rest of the night’s proceedings won’t be compromised, far from it. The AWA’s Lightweight champion will be thrown into a tag battle with Ed Electric, Little Hillbilly and one other mystery combatant. That’s not all! The AWA have also staged an ambitious five-way elimination match between the All Africa Heavyweight title holder, Johnny Palazzio and tough opponents such as Oz aka Not Guilty and Sammy Swiegers. A significantly less hairy (we hope) Shaun Koen will also take part and it will be interesting to see if the big guy’s strength prevails after a long overdue haircut. The fifth man is Von Steele, a new AWA fighter who has been proving himself in the ring and risen to every challenge and indeed amongst the ranks. Will facing four established AWA wrestlers prove too much for this young man to handle? Being an elimination bout, nothing this side of a pin or a submission will put an end to a wrestler’s chance at victory.
AWA, A CUT ABOVE THE REST
Naturally, we can’t wait to see how it all unfolds. If you’re keen to donate to the ‘Reach For A Dream’ foundation, or you just want to see the people’s champ have his hair scissored from his scalp in a packed Parow Civic, please contact the AWA on 082 456 0792 to assist in this manner.
